Jean Huffman is a fire ecologist and a land manager. She recently helped establish the Southeastern Coastal Plain Tree-Ring Lab at Tall Timbers, which is administered by the Fire Ecology Program. She is collaborating with Monica Rother and Kevin Robertson at Tall Timbers to reconstruct the history of fire in various sites in Florida and southern Georgia. In addition, she is working with a group studying fungi and fire in southeastern pine savannas. For decades she has also worked with on-the-ground fire and land management in Florida, most recently as the manager of the St. Joseph Bay State Buffer Preserve, and previously as biologist at Myakka River State Park.
