Highway construction

Sakhalin Pipeline

Advocacy and planning efforts have kept the Red Hills largely free of habitat fragmenting infrastructure projects such as highways and pipelines.

The location of highways, roads, pipelines, and other forms of infrastructure can dramatically alter the natural landscape. Unfortunately, large contiguous greenspace is frequently targeted for the placement of infrastructure as it is seen as more cost effective and politically easier to justify than routing a road or pipeline through an urban or suburban area. Going all the way back to our first encounter with Colonial Pipeline, Tall Timbers has a long history of working to protect the region from the fragmenting effects of linear infrastructure projects.
