Jim Cox heads up the Stoddard Bird Lab at Tall Timbers. The lab works with rare and declining wildlife with an emphasis on understanding how prescribed fire and other management activities affect population growth and stability. Current projects range from pinewoods in the Red Hills region and the Apalachicola National Forest to coastal marshes in Florida’s Big Bend region. The lab is also engaged in novel conservation efforts designed to incentivize habitat conservation for rare species on private lands. Public outreach is another big focus using regular field tours of Tall Timbers, popular articles, and engaging public presentations.
