Springdale Agriculture Services, (A.K.A. Springdale Land and Game Management) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a full-time associate in our company. Springdale Ag is a privately owned company that manages property for landowners to provide plantings and land management services for wildlife and forest management in Eastern South Carolina.
Job Overview:
Oversee Springdale Ag staff and collaborate with landowners to provide and implement a comprehensive plan to maximize each landowner’s property to yield high level plantings for wildlife use. Be able to conduct a detailed analysis of properties soils and soil characteristics. Evaluate planting areas in regard to wildlife and crops being planted. Utilize best farming practices in regard to soils, fertilizers, and chemicals. You will be expected to maintain a deep understanding of soil productivity principles and keep tabs on the latest trends and technologies in agronomy and wildlife agriculture.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Oversee the entire process of growing crops that include corn, grain sorghum, sunflowers, rice, chufas, clovers, wheat, oats, etc.
Responsible for determining and ordering seed, chemicals, lime, fertilizers, etc.
Assesses crop production of the farms
Evaluates and improve soil quality
Responsible for tests of soil, seed, and crop samples
Keeps records of research, testing, and results
Find ways to maximize crop production from a given acreage of soil.
Specialize in crop production, soil control, and soil management.
Monitoring the soils on all properties that we maintain.
Keep records of all agricultural activities,
Mapping properties as to conditions and planting techniques.
Recommend soil enhancements and see that they are implemented
Be able to travel between properties, company vehicle may be provided.
Supervise AG technicians/staff
Maintain a steady line of communications between peers and superiors.
Produce mapping of properties and what crops are planted
Work with NRCS personnel and Agronomists to help with understanding soil a d erosion issues
