Cherokee Plantation is a 7000+ private property where the owners enjoy all hunt seasons and many sporting activities. The Huntmaster directs and supervises all aspects of the Hunt and Vehicle Maintenance departments, including but not limited to personnel functions, land management, crop program, wildlife management, guide work, managing service schedules, and maintaining a fleet of equipment. The Huntmaster is required to live on the Plantation to monitor and manage any problems relating to wildlife and security and also serves as a host to guests as called upon during events.
The Huntmaster conducts the wildlife program using sound biological principles and practices for the purpose of habitat enhancement. The Huntmaster coordinates biannual Hunt Committee meetings with owners and staff and coordinates all hunting activities. The Huntmaster directs all planting programs to ensure optimum land use for the purpose of attracting game, and for guest safety.
The Huntmaster manages operations at the Vehicle Maintenance facility and coordinates meetings with mechanics and procurement to a reliable fleet of equipment is available to perform tasks and meet program objectives.
The Huntmaster interviews potential staff, makes hiring recommendations, and instructs personnel in methods and equipment as needed to maintain game management areas, boating operation, rifle/pistol range and to maintain over 100 club and owner guns. The Huntmaster trains and disciplines departmental personnel as needed to maintain optimum performance of the department, prepares weekly staff schedules, verifies weekly hours worked by completing the time sheet, and ensures policy compliance. The Huntmaster also assists other departments toward the overall objective of enhancing the experience of the owners and their guests at every visit, and makes recommendations to the General Manager regarding operations.
