Description
Background: Tall Timbers Research Station is looking for two people to join the land management team at our central Florida location. Escape ranch is a 14,000-acre wild bobwhite property located in Osceola County, Florida. This position is part of an ongoing long-term research program on wild bobwhites. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties will include, but are not limited to, trapping and removal of bobwhite predators and nest predators. This includes racoons, opossums, armadillos, skunks, bobcats, and coyotes. Traps are primarily foot hold traps and box traps. The successful candidates may also contribute to other habitat management operations such as prescribed burning, conducting surveys, and assisting on hunts.

Minimum Qualifications: • An interest in game bird management. • Comfortable with consumptive practices (i.e. hunting). • Comfortable handling and using a firearm on a regular basis. • Previous experience is preferred but not required. • Individuals need a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with habitat management practices. • Experience with wildlife trapping. • Knowledge of prescribed burning techniques and safety protocols. • Previous experience conducting point counts and quad surveys.
