Position Summary Buttonwood is seeking an experienced Seasonal Chef to oversee culinary operations at an exclusive private hunting preserve. The Chef will provide exceptional food and hospitality for UHNW individuals including owners, family members, invited guests, and special events while maintaining the discretion, flexibility, and service standards expected in a private-estate environment. The position emphasizes fresh, seasonal cooking utilizing provisions grown, raised, harvested, or otherwise sourced directly from the property whenever available, supplemented by high-quality locally and regionally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Core Responsibilities • Prepare and execute high-quality meals for owners and guests, including early-morning breakfasts, field and packed or plated lunches, cocktail hors d'oeuvres, dinners, and special-event service. • Utilize produce, herbs, game, and other provisions sourced from the property whenever appropriate and possible, with an emphasis on fresh, locally and regionally sourced ingredients when additional provisions are required. • Prepare properly processed wild game and other proteins with a high level of skill, consistency, and presentation. • Adapt meal preparation and service to changing hunting schedules, guest counts, weather conditions, arrivals, departures, and special requests. • Accommodate guest preferences, dietary restrictions, allergies, and other culinary requirements. • Coordinate closely with the property management and preserve staff regarding guest schedules, meal timing, property-grown provisions, garden harvests, hunting activities, and special events. • Coordinate and oversee kitchen operations, including food purchasing, receiving, storage, inventory, cost awareness, food rotation, and waste minimalization. • Maintain appropriate kitchen and pantry inventory while ensuring provisions are fresh, properly stored, labeled, and readily available. • Maintain exceptional standards of cleaning
Minimum Education
High school
Other Qualifications
• Minimum 4-5 years of professional culinary experience; private estate, hunting lodge, club, resort, or luxury hospitality experience preferred. • Experience preparing wild game, Southern or regional cuisine, and fresh seasonal ingredients strongly preferred. • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, food storage, inventory management, and professional kitchen operations. • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with management and preserve staff. • Highly organized, dependable, flexible, and capable of adjusting quickly to changing schedules and guest needs. • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak hunting periods when required. • Professional appearance, communication skills, judgment, and attention to detail. • Must successfully complete a background check and execute an NDA/Confidentiality Agreement.
