SUMMARY:SE FireMap Phase II Webinar
DESCRIPTION:SE FireMap Phase II: Developing the Decision Support System\nPlease join us for an open and free webinar for practitioners and the public to learn about the Southeast (SE) FireMap and next steps in its development as an operational decision-support tool for resource managers. In this next phase\, the SE FireMap aims to provide up-to-date fire information to support fire management and conservation efforts. Representatives from USDA-NRCS\, Tall Timbers Research\, and USGS will lead the webinar. \nExpanding & Updating the SE FireMap\nWhen: Wednesday\, September 20th\, 2022\nAt: 2 PM US/Eastern\nWhere: On Zoom – Register here \nWebinar Description:\nThe SE FireMap is a fire mapping system that uses remote sensing to track prescribed fire and wildfire activity on public and private lands throughout the southeastern United States. The SE FireMap v1.0 was released in early 2021\, and an expanded\, fully operational SE FireMap v2.0 aims to be released by Spring 2025. The SE FireMap v2.0 will provide a decision-support system with annually updated information to resource managers to support increasing the effectiveness of fire planning and conservation practice delivery across boundaries\, ecosystems\, and jurisdictions. In time the SE FireMap will be expanded to include additional regions. \nThis webinar will demonstrate the prototype version of the SE FireMap\, discuss the development of v2.0\, and outline ways users can provide input on product development. There will be time for Q&A following brief presentations. The SE FireMap was developed with funding from USDA-NRCS. \nPresenters: \n\nBridgett Costanzo\, Working Lands for Wildlife Coordinator-Eastern US\, USDA-NRCS\nJoe Noble\, Geospatial Program Director\, Tall Timbers Research\nEli Simonson\, Remote Sensing Analyst\, Tall Timbers Research\nHolly Nowell\, Project Research Scientist\, Tall Timbers Research\nTodd Hawbaker\, Research Ecologist\, USGS\nMelanie K Vanderhoof\, Research Geographer\, USGS\n\nRegistration is required on Zoom\nPlease Spread the word!
