Red Hills Land Conservation Opportunity Fund Created
At the Red Hills Spring Dinner at Tall Timbers April 7, Tall Timbers Land Conservancy Committee Chairman George Watkins concluded the evening with a bang by announcing the creation of a multi-million dollar Red Hills Land Conservation Opportunity Fund. The purpose of the revolving fund is to provide Tall Timbers with additional “tools in the toolbox” to purchase conservation easements or fee title on high priority lands with outstanding conservation values of public benefit. He remarked, “I’m a fourth generation from Thomas County, my son is a fifth, and my grandson is a sixth. I firmly believe that the environment and the culture are tied straight together. Because this community here wouldn’t be like it is without these Red Hills.” He asked those in attendance and their friends to think about contributing to the Red Hills Land Conservation Opportunity Fund, so we can protect the natural resources and the land we so love.
